GAME RECAP: OCT 16

The Beavers played the Blues on Saturday in their first matchup since they jolted to quebec superleague about ten years ago, and it was an ....interesting... game, to say the least.

First off, it continues to be a great omen for us that we are halfway though October and still putting out 35 guys on the weekend. With such a limited number of games this fall, it's quite a challenge to make sure everyone gets ample game time, so we really thank everyone who comes to play (and we are happy to report everyone got at least 20 minutes in on Saturday).

The first half of the game saw our starters take on the Blues to give us a sense of where we stand against a team that has played some very high level rugby for a number of years. Incredibly, it was an insanely competitive half. The Beavers drew first blood when Pierre cut through the line to put in a 50m run a few minutes into the game, and it was a great back and forth match through the 40. Things went a bit sideways through the back half, as they were expected to. But it was a good opportunity to give everyone a taste of some higher tier rugby as we get ready for whatever the coming season holds for us.

This was the last local team on the men's schedule for the fall, and, all told, the Beavers were really able to spend the fall season showing we could play at the same level as any of the other clubs in the city, while also fielding great numbers as we continue our post-covid rebuild. A bus trip and some good fun fall rugby are still on the horizon!
