GAME RECAP: OCT 30

The Banshees ended their fall season by hosting a Halloween 7s tournament at Twin Elm. Along with two Banshees sides in the tournament, we were joined by teams from the Montreal Irish, Scarborough RFC, and the Ottawa Combine for a spirited afternoon of spooktacular women's rugby.

It was a bit cold and wet, but the tournament was a really fun time, and it was a great way to keep women's rugby chugging along through the post-covid recovery. Plus we played in costumes, and it turns out that tutus are really good for tackle evasion (they rip off quite easily). Plus plus we had a pumpkin carving competition, so it was a great experience all around.

Congrats to Scarborough (fittingly dressed as superheroes) for winning the tournament, and a big thanks to all the teams who came out to play on the weekend.

The event also showed that the Club has really strong capacity to organize and execute tournaments in the future, as we look to build on this event for coming seasons. Big thanks to Mike Ash, Shelagh Purcell, Jared Gunn and Andrew Fawcett for helping to coordinate the tournament (and Wanda Malone for working her butt off to allocate refs, and Tom Hindle for spending the afternoon officiating in the cold rain).
