Absolute scorcher of a weekend for rugby.
The men suffered two disappointing losses on the road against some strong opposition from the Montreal Wanderers. The Beavers Is were not able to capitalize on their territory and possession advantage in the first half, and the Wanderers put in a strong second half to break away. The twos were in a back and forth battle and ended up just short at the end of the match. Both teams will look to bounce back and close out successful regular seasons next week with wins against St Lambert.
The senior women played the Ottawa Irish. Bunch of players in new positions, but the women held their own in many aspects - dominating scrums, forcing turnovers on about 30% of the balls - but fell a few tries short. Overall, the Banshees have made some great gains when compared to previous scores against the Irish over the past year.
The Juniors also both played the Irish on Sunday. Despite the heat, the Junior Beavers excelled in support running, goal line stands, and some exhausting runs by several players. Unfortunately, the Irish boys capitalized on a few opportunities where they caught us on the back foot and took the win. The Junior girls played a game of 11 on 11. First half of the game was a close match (2 tries to 1 at half). The heat and lack of subs started to kick in through the second half and the score widened up through the bottom half.
