Big weekend of fall rugby!
Both the Beavers and Banshees are the only club sides in Ottawa still running senior-level rugby, but it was a glorious fall Saturday for it as both teams hosted squads travelling in from Kingston.
The men hosted Queens for the second of their home and home series. The Beavers showed considerable improvement over the game last week, putting up a decent match against the travelling Queens side, although we probably wracked up a season's worth of penalties in the process.
The women hosted the Royal Military College and their newly minted women's program, helping the RMC ladies play their first XVs match in twenty years. The Banshees put up a great match against the fledgling RMC side - big shout-out to Junior Banshee Nia for playing her first women's match and getting two tries along the way. It was sincerely fantastic to get back out and playing some fall rugby, especially to assist another women's team begin their own journey.
The juniors went out to Twin Elm on Sunday for a day of 7s at the annual WHITU 7s tournament. It was a good day for rugby and everyone got a chance to get one last go on the pitch before winter, and Nia put in a few more tries to add to her weekend tally.
