On August 16, the Beavers and Banshees played some rugby at TD Place, marking the official return of rugby to Ottawa since COVID shut everything down in March 2020.
Overall, the event was a spectacular success, and there were at least a few spectators present from around the rugby community that were left asking us how we could even pull such a thing off. So kudos to everyone who participated, especially Tom Bryant for officiating, Brendan Hickey for providing the athletic therapy services, Kathy Hodges and Chris Phillips for their photography, and especially Kim Goodwin for missing the whole event so she could man entrances at the gate.
The event started with the Beaver Bowl Touch Rugby Tournament. There was some tough competition, but only one team could be crowned the 2021 Beaver Bowl Champs. After a fierce battle, Team #Game4Seb took the title and had their names written in permanent sharpie on the Beaver Bowl trophy.
The Senior Women played themselves a rowdy game of 10s, with the Banshees White team coming up with a narrow win over the Banshees Greens.
The Senior Men played a great intrasquad against each other, with the Beavers Reds taking home the glory under the lights.
