The Club’s objective in running junior rugby programs is to encourage the growth of the sport, and to develop player skills and character.

The Junior girls compete in the Eastern Ontario u18 league against the Ottawa Ospreys, Ottawa Irish, Barrhaven Scottish, and teams from the Seaway Valley. The season starts in June and ends in August.

The team is open to players aged 14-18 (high school grades 9-12).

The OBBRFC adheres to the highest standards of player safety. In addition to following Rugby Canada’s PlaySmart guidelines, junior players must attend a minimum of 2 practices before they can be permitted to participate in games.

Feeder Schools

The Junior Banshees welcome players from all schools, but are the closest junior girls rugby team to the following high schools:

•Glebe Collegiate

•Immaculata High School

•Ridgemont High School

•Lisgar Collegiate

•Nepean High School

•Notre Dame High School

•Hillcrest High School

•Canterbury High School

•Brookfield High School

•Notre Dame High School

The Junior Banshees practice from 6:00 – 7:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week through the summer at Glebe Collegiate,  212 Glebe Ave, Ottawa, ON K1S 2C9

Junior dues for the 2019 season are $275, which are the least expensive dues for a u18 team in the city.

Notwithstanding, the OBBRFC junior program strives to ensure that financial reasons do not present a barrier to entry into the sport of rugby. If you or your child is interested in playing junior rugby but the registration fee is an issue, there are a number of volunteer hour opportunities available over the course of the season that can be used to reduce an individual player’s dues as well as to count towards high school volunteer hour requirements.
