The Club’s objective in running junior rugby programs is to encourage the growth of the sport, and to develop player skills and character.
In pre-COVID times...
In normal years, the junior girls compete in the Eastern Ontario league against the Ottawa Ospreys, Ottawa Irish, Barrhaven Scottish, and teams from the Seaway Valley. The season starts in June and ends in August, with playoffs at the end of the summer.
The team is open to players aged 13-18.
The OBBRFC adheres to the highest standards of player safety. In addition to following Rugby Canada’s PlaySmart guidelines and Ontario's Rowan's Law, junior players must attend a minimum of 2 practices before they can be permitted to participate in games.
The 2021 Summer Season...
For the 2021 summer season, training for all teams will be consolidated on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm until 7:45pm at Glebe Collegiate (212 Glebe Avenue) starting June 22.
In following Rugby Ontario's COVID safety protocols, the Club is currently permitted to run non-contact training up to, and including touch rugby. As a result, training sessions will consist of a combination of rugby skills, fitness and structured touch rugby games.
As always, junior players receive a club t-shirt with their registration.

Junior dues for the 2021 season are $75, which is the absolute lowest price-point that can the Club can offer (100% of costs go towards Rugby Ontario and Canada registration insurance).
Notwithstanding, the OBBRFC junior program strives to ensure that financial reasons do not present a barrier to entry into the sport of rugby. If you or your child is interested in playing junior rugby but the registration fee is an issue, there are a number of volunteer hour opportunities available over the course of the season that can be used to reduce an individual player’s dues as well as to count towards high school volunteer hour requirements.
